Additional Information Based on Service Interest:

If you request details about car insurance, we may collect extra information regarding your vehicle. If you inquire about home insurance, additional details regarding your homeowner status and property may be collected. Similarly, for life insurance inquiries, we may gather further information such as your occupation, physical activity level, veteran status, tobacco use, DUI history, height and weight, and medical history. We also obtain details about your current insurance coverage.

Usage and Device/Location Information:

When you use our website, we may collect information about your browser, including the site you came from and the sites you visit after leaving us. On our app, we might gather information about your location (including saved and precise locations) using technologies like GPS and Wi-Fi. Our mobile app may also access your device’s location in the background and collect device identifiers. Additionally, when using our app, we collect data regarding your driving habits via location services, accelerometers, screen on/off status, and gyroscopes. You may also choose to provide access to your device or social media contact lists. Note that since the app may not always distinguish between a driver and a passenger, it might record driving habits even when you are not driving.

Direct Collection:

We obtain information directly from you when you use our website, request insurance information, or register for our app. We also collect data when you contact us. You may have the option to share a picture of your driver’s license barcode, which we use to retrieve information about you from third-party providers. Passive Collection:

We use tracking tools such as browser cookies and web beacons on our websites and in our emails. These tools help us gather information about user behavior over time. Third parties may also collect personal information using these methods.

Mobile Apps:

Our mobile apps collect data about your device, including device and app IDs. If you enable location services, we collect this information in the background—even when the app isn’t open.

Business Partners and Affiliates:

We may share details like your name, address, email, telephone number, and date of birth—which you provided or we obtained from third-party sources—with insurance companies or other entities. You acknowledge and agree that each insurance company receiving your quote request may verify your information through a consumer reporting agency, which might include your driving record and/or credit score to determine eligibility and accurate rates.

Legal and Protection Purposes:

We may share information when necessary to comply with the law, respond to a court order or subpoena, assist in accident investigations or litigation, or when requested by a government agency or investigatory body. We may also share data when investigating potential fraud.

Business Transfers:

In the event of a sale or transfer of part of our business, your customer list and related information may be included in the transaction.

Publicly Viewable Information:

Some of your information may be viewable by other users. For instance, if you use the app, your username, profile picture, driving score and rank, and city or town of residence may be publicly visible. You can choose to share your driving habits and trip details with friends, but we will not share this information without your consent.

Opting Out of Marketing Emails:

You can opt out of receiving our marketing emails by contacting customer support at contact@cars-insurance.com or following the instructions in any promotional message from us. Even if you opt out of marketing messages, we will still send you transactional communications, such as responses to your inquiries. If you opt out of receiving marketing communications from our business partners with whom we have shared your data, you will continue to receive marketing messages from us and any other partners with whom your information has been shared.

Stopping Third-Party Marketing:

You may request that we stop sharing your information with third parties for marketing purposes by emailing us at contact@cars-insurance.com.

Managing Cookies and Tracking Tools:

You can control how cookies and other tracking tools are used through your browser settings. While some browsers offer a “do not track” feature, please note that these signals are not uniformly honored. Blocking cookies may affect the functionality of certain site features.

We collect personal information through your interactions on the Site, including your interest in particular services or products, and any personal information you submit in connection with your requests. The collection of personal information categorized as "Identifiers, or information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is capable of being associated with, a particular individual" is used for the following purposes: 1) providing access and interaction with the Site; 2) connecting you with the services or products featured on the Site that you indicate a need for.

The collection of personal information categorized as "Inferences drawn from any of the above information to create a profile about a consumer reflecting their preferences, characteristics, behavior, etc." is required for: 1) advertising/marketing services; and 2) analytics and internal research.

What Personal Information Do We Disclose?

We have disclosed personal information for business purposes to third parties within the preceding 12 months in all the above categories. These disclosures are made to our third-party buyers, which are hyperlinked at https://www.cars-insurance.com/partners/. This includes any indication of your need for a particular service or product featured on the Site and all personal information you submitted through the Site in conjunction with your request. Additionally, we disclose personal information in all the above categories to our third-party advertising partners, such as the owners of the brands featured on the Site, as well as third-party advertising networks. We also share personal information with our third-party Service Providers who log user experiences, assist with form population, and perform retargeting, and with third-party publishers to track clicks/conversions.

Furthermore, to comply with applicable laws and regulations, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights, we may disclose any of the above personal information to the requesting governmental agency, entity, or person. In the course of our business development, we may sell or buy assets, in which case personal information collected through the Site could be transferred as part of the transaction. Similarly, if we or substantially all of our assets are acquired, such personal information will be included in the transferred assets.

What Personal Information Do We Sell?

Under the definitions of "Sell" and "Sale" in the CCPA, we do not sell your personal information.

Your Right to Request to Know and How to Submit a Verified Request to Know

• A "request to know" is a request related to the personal information a business holds about a consumer. It may include a request for any or all of the following:
• Specific pieces of personal information that we have collected about you;
• Categories of personal information that we have collected about you;
• Categories of sources from which the personal information was collected;
• Categories of personal information that we have sold or disclosed for a business purpose about you;
• Categories of third parties to whom the personal information was sold or disclosed for a business purpose; and
• The business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling the personal information.
• The CCPA permits consumers to make requests to know up to twice in a twelve (12) month period.

To submit a request to know, please email your request to contact@cars-insurance.com. To process your request, we will require you to submit your name, email address, and/or phone number. This information will be used to verify your request and attempt to identify you within our data records. If you choose to use an authorized agent to exercise your right to submit a request for information, we may require the following before processing the request: 1) proof of your written and signed permission for the authorized agent to act on your behalf; 2) direct verification of your identity with us; and 3) direct confirmation with us that you provided the authorized agent permission to submit the request on your behalf. We will only use the information you submit in conjunction with your request to verify your identity and provide you with the information requested.

Your Right to Request Deletion and How to Submit a Verified Request to Delete

You have the right to request the deletion of any personal information which we have collected about you, or which we maintain. To submit a verifiable request to delete, please email your request to contact@cars-insurance.com. To process your request, we will require that you submit your name, email address, and/or phone number in conjunction with your request. The information which you provide will be used to verify your request and to attempt to identify you within our data records. If you elect to use an authorized agent to exercise your right to submit a request for deletion, we may require the following before processing the request: a) provide proof of your written and signed permission with the authorized agent to act on your behalf; 2) directly verify your own identity with us; and 3) directly confirm with us that you provided the authorized agent permission to submit the request on your behalf. We will only use the information which you submit to us in conjunction with your request to know for the express purposes of verification and providing you with responsive information to your request, if required.

We utilize a two-step process for online requests to delete, whereby you first submit your request to delete, and second, you separately confirm that you want your personal information deleted.

To the extent that your personal information is necessary for us to maintain for a reason delineated in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.105(d), including but not limited to complete a transaction for which the personal information was collected, provide a good or service you have requested, detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, debug, etc., or to comply with a legal obligation, we are not required to comply with your request for deletion. For instance, we are not required to delete personal information which is necessary to maintain suppression files for those individuals who have opted out of receiving email marketing from us. If we are unable to verify your request, we will notify you as well.

Your Right to Non-Discrimination for the Exercise of Your Privacy Rights

California affords consumers with the right not to receive discriminatory treatment by a business for the exercise of their privacy rights conferred by the CCPA. This means that you cannot be denied goods or services; be charged different prices or rates; be provided with a different level or quality of goods or services; or have it suggested that you will receive a different price or rate or different level or quality of goods or services. However, a business may offer a financial incentive or price or service difference if it is reasonably related to the value of the consumer's data. A business shall notify consumers of any financial incentive or price or service difference.
